Findings
Households of Asian householders have highest income, followed by white householders and Hispanic ones. Income of households of black householders is the lowest in America. Hispanic and black households’ income is below average. Despite the fact that the number of Asian households is the least, their income is the highest. These statistics can imply that most of Asians in American are doing high quality jobs.
Reflection
This project is a data project: use Google Sheets to create a simple spreadsheet.
Data used is retrieved from a public data collected by the U.S. census bureau at The U.S. Census data site. From a data set downloaded, I focus on a smaller set of data that I am interested to work on.
I need to fill a simple spreadsheet with different data. The project’s requirements are: to freeze a row or column, to use conditional formatting to highlight interesting data, to use data validation for one column of data, to use a basic function for one or more columns and to label this row, to use additional formatting tools to visually organize the data, to use this data to produce a visualization. After all, this spreadsheet needs to be saved and embedded to portfolio.
Accomplishing this project required a lot of skills. I downloaded the data and used query function to extract data that I wanted to get a closer look. In the result sheet, I used some functions to get the pattern hidden in the data and used that data to create a visualization.
New skills learned: conditional formatting, using data validation, embedding spreadsheet into wordpress page.
